Your Rio Blanco County Social Services is moving toward
our goal by providing the following services:

Food Stamp Program
To alleviate hunger and malnutrition, a food stamp program permits low-income households to obtain a more nutritious diet by increasing food purchasing power for all eligible households who apply.

Colorado Works Program
Provides financial and health care benefits. This program is only available for a lifetime maximum of 60 months, offering job preparation and supportive services.

Medical Assistance Program
Provides medical benefits to eligible persons.

Families in Transition
Rio Blanco County’s Day Treatment Program provides school-based services to insure or increase the likelihood that the student remain in, or return to, the family home and familiar community surroundings. The Families In Transition (FIT) Program provides individual, group, and family counseling to build the skills and structure families need to support students with emotional, behavioral, and/or psycho-social challenges. The program is an extensive collaboration with the Meeker and Rangely School Districts, and a variety of other community-based agencies, which serve the interests of students and families.

Child Support Enforcement
Established by federal and state law to locate noncustodial parents and to obtain from them financial support for their children. Services include: locating non-custodial parents and their assets, establish paternity, establish child support and medical support orders, enforce child support orders and collect child support payments, enforce medical support orders.

Child Protection
Prevents or remedies neglect, abuse, or exploitation of children unable to protect their own interests, or preserving, rehabilitating or reuniting families. Prevents or reduces inappropriate institutional care by providing for community based care, home based care, or other forms of less intensive care. Secures referral or admission for institutional care when other forms of care are not appropriate.

Adult Protection
This program is designed to intervene with or on the behalf of at-risk adults to correct or alleviate situations in which actual or imminent danger of abuse, neglect, or exploitation exists and to utilize support systems to provide continuing safety from the incident(s) of abuse, neglect, or exploitation.

Child Care Services
Provides eligible families a subsidy for child care of their choosing.

Old Age Pension (OAP)
Provides financial assistance and health care benefits for low-income adults aged 60 or older.

Aid to the Needy Disabled (AND)
Provides a cash payment to persons between 18 - 59 years old while awaiting approval for Supplemental Social Security income.

Long-Term Care (LTC)
Provides health care benefits to aged, blind or disabled persons who require out of home care.

Colorado Employment First
Increases employment for food stamp participants through support, referrals, accountability, and community work. Employment First is a federally mandated program designed to ensure that all able-bodied food stamp participants are engaged in activities that will improve their employability.

Senior Nutrition
Provides meals to persons aged 60 and over in a congregate setting to assure a nutritionally balanced diet and to provide opportunity for socialization. Nutrition sites are located in both Meeker and Rangely.
