General Info
The Abstract report is the final tabulation of the valuation,
revenues, and levies produced each year as a result of the
Assessor's duties.
It is the duty of the Assessor to assess all real and
personal property on an equitable basis in accordance
with state guidelines. All property, except specified
exempt by law, is subject to taxation. It is the
responsibility of the owner to see that it is listed on the
Assessor's records.
The Assessor must certify the valuation to school
boards, city and town councils, and all other taxing
entities the amount of valuation in each district. After
the levies are set and certified to the Assessor, it is
their duty to extend the taxes to the tax roll and deliver
to the County Treasurer. The Assessor's office does
not set the mill levies. Mill levies are set by the local
taxing jurisdictions as follows:
• City and town mill levies are set by the city and town councils.
• School mill levies are set by the local school boards.
• County mill levies are set by the County Commissioners.
• Special districts, such as fire, recreation, and hospital districts are set by the elected district boards.
2007 taxes are due and payable January 1, 2008.
First half of taxes are due February 28, 2008.
Second half of taxes become due June 15, 2008.
Tax payments in full are due by April 30, 2008.
